Ranching is a farming activity that players can undertake on their farms. To start ranching, players need to first build a coop and barn, which can be purchased from the Carpenter. These structures can be further upgraded to accommodate more animals and a wider variety of livestock. Ranching is vital for players as ranch products and artisan goods are required in the Lake Temple offerings for the Goddess, which when completed will increase player's Town Rank, and in return unlocking more animals to ranch.

Where to Get Ranch Animals

Ranch animals can initially be purchased from Jack's Ranch Shop, located just north of the player's farm. As players progress and increase their town rank, more animals become available. Additionally, players can unlock Savannah and [animals] after completing specific quests and unlocking the respective areas. However, these animals are only available after version 1.1 of the game.

How to Ranch

1. Build a Coop/Barn : Animals need shelter, so constructing a coop or barn is the first step.
2. Buy Animals : Purchase animals from the ranch shops.
3. Feed the Animals : Ensure animals are fed every day. Land animals eat Hay.png Hay, while ocean animals eat Seaweed.png Seaweed. If not fed, animal will not produce anything the next day, and might end up in a bad mood. Fail to feed animals for more than 3 days risk animal being sick.
4. When sick : Go to the clinic, and buy Animal medicine.png Animal medicine. It cost 300 992T Icon Gold4.png, and will immidiately heal your sick animal. Sick animal will not produce.
5. Harvest Produce : Collect the produce from your animals. Some animals require tools like a Milk pail.png Milk pail or Shears.png Shears, while others need to be taken out of their shelter to drop their produce. Eggs will be laid on the coop floor, ready for collection.
6. Upgrade Produce : Improve the quality of animal produce by upgrading their food quality.
7. Make sure your animal is happy : petting animal, feeding, and providing temperature machine during summer & winter keeps your animal comfortable & loved. Happy animal have bigger chance in producing large produce.

Animal Friendship

Animal Friendship consists of 10 hearts |53410 Hearts.png level. Each 1 ❤️ requires 100 points to level up.

Heart 1 Heart 2 Heart 3 Heart 4 Heart 5 Heart 6 Heart 7 Heart 8 Heart 9 Heart 10
Friendship Point required 100 200 300 400 500 600 700 800 900 1000

Each time players do an action, they generate points. Some actions that make animals happy, grants positive points, and actions that make animals unhappy grant negative points. At the end of the day, these positive points are then converted into friendship points (increase animal heart).

Action Points
Hot because stay inside coop / barn during summer -40
Cold / underwater no temp machine -40
Petting animal 5
Give animal food yesterday 10
NOT Give animal food -50
Coop / Barn / Underwater barn I 0
Deluxe Coop / Deluxe Barn 10
Outside when good weather / underwater temp machine 5
Outside when rain, storm, blizzard, snow -40
Illama have no friend -35
Hay / Seaweed basic 5
Hay / Seaweed Bronze 6
Hay / Seaweed Silver 7
Hay / Seaweed Gold 8
Hay / Seaweed Osmium 10

When points are positive, the animal’s heart increase by that amount of point. The bigger the point, the faster animal's heart will increase. Negative points will not reduce animal friendship, but do not increase it either.

Friendship Benefits

Friendship determines product size based on chance. Higher heart levels mean a bigger chance to get Large animal products. The highest probability for large product just by friendship, is 80%. So in order to guarantee a large product, player will have to make sure animals are happy. Happiness is determined by animal mood system.

Animal Mood

Animal Mood is a game system that is dependent on the Animal Friendship system. Now that player has done the activity, the amount of friendship point will determine what mood the animal is in for the next day.

How to determine Animal Mood

As you can see in the friendship table, when the player does actions that take care of the animal, it will yield some points. When friendship points are>25, the animal will be in a happy mood.

Overall, animals will keep producing regardless of mood. But angry/sad mood will result in smaller chance to get Large animal produce.

  • Animals will not produce when not fed yesterday
  • Animals will not produce when they’re sick.

If the animal's mood is <0 for 3 straight days, the animal will be sick regardless of season.

When animal is cold/hot for 3 straight days during summer & winter, animal will also be sick

Animal will recover after 8 days. Max 3/4 animal in a building can be sick.

Mood Benefits

Mood affects product size beside friendship.

When an animal is happy, increases the chance to get the large product, and when the animal is angry, sad or sick, decreases the chance to get a Large product. Neutral mood does not affect product size. So the mood will further increase/decrease the chance for animals to produce large products. As you can see below, when animal is in a bad mood, the chance of player getting large produce will decrease in huge amount. And getting animal in good mood will reward player with guarantee of large product.

Farm House Ranching

Ranching on the player's initial farm requires building coops and barns to house land animals. Players can construct as many coops and barns as their farm space allows, and these structures can be upgraded to accommodate more animals. Additionally, players can customize the design of their coops and barns at the Carpenter. When placing coops and barns, it is reccomended to leave some space in front, to allow animals roam outside during good weather. Planting grass starters around the coops and barns provides a natural food source for animals when they are outdoors, helping to conserve hays for other days.

Players can upgrade their animal produce by visiting Ling's Lab. At the lab, players can enhance the quality of their animals' hay, leading to the production of higher-quality items. Improved food not only boosts the quality of the produce but also enhances the animals' mood, resulting in larger product sizes. Upgrading the animals' food is a key strategy for maximizing the productivity and value of the ranch's output.
Animals player can ranch from version 1.0 are :

Savannah Ranching

After stepping foot in the Savannah and meeting Lady Lavanna, players unlock the opportunity to engage in Savannah ranching by purchasing exclusive animals: ostrich and buffalo. These unique animals can be bought directly from Lady Lavanna, adding diversity and value to the player's farm. Ostriches and Buffaloes, while taking slightly longer to produce due to their adaptation period to the farm's climate, yield highly valued products. This makes investment in Savannah ranching worthwhile, as the returns from these animals are quite significant.
Savannah animals available after version 1.1

Underwater Ranching

players can expand their ranching to the underwater realm by completing the 20-meter Ocean Orchestra, upon which Slamet will send the player a letter. This achievement also opens up the Underwater Ranch Store, run by Slamet. To unlock more ocean animals, players must complete more Ocean Orchestra puzzles and offerings. Unlike land animals, ocean animals cannot be brought to the surface, so players must build underwater barns on their underwater farms to house them. Ocean animals require Seaweed.png Seaweed instead of hay for feeding. And just like land animlas, you can take ocean animals out of their barn. Animals will start munching on seaweed around their barn, so you don't have to feed them.
Additionally, due to the cold environment on the seafloor, it's neccessary to use Temperature machine.png Temperature machine to keep the animals warm and happy.

Players can upgrade their animal produce by visiting Cho Oyu at the Oracle's Chamber. upgrading seaweed will require player to give Cho Oyu any ocean animal product of any quality. Along with increasing quality, Cho Oyu expects higher quality produce too. Since upgrading seaweed will increase ocean animal's produce quality, you should prioritize upgrading the seaweeds first.
