Charles

From Coral Island Wiki

He is the town doctor, alongside Yuri.

On his day to day, he prefers to dress conservatively. He uses his single-life free time catching up with the islanders at the Tavern, or just going around spitting out medical advice. On summers, he usually frequents the hair salon “to keep his color alive”. Though he insists that his unnaturally brighter-than-the-sun flock of hair is, in fact, organic-- locals believe that to be a disguise to conceal his gloom tendency. Which comes as no-surprise, since bad luck seems to have its way with Charles. In his youth, he was disowned by his parents, worked his way through medical school and when he finally thought he caught a break by marrying the love of his life. Sorrow comes running through the door-- he caught her cheating, had a messy divorce and has been heartbroken since.. He now lives with an overgrown frat-boy, Scott as a housemate. Charles is spiritual; he has an altar for Boda in his living room. He enjoys meditating, watching TV, and indulging on burritos. Has a pollen allergy, dislikes flowers.

Dialogues

First meeting
quote-left.png

"Is that… Is that you, Player? Wow! I almost didn’t recognize you in that getup. Oh, so you’re the one moving into the lot, huh? That would explain the outfit."

quote-left.png

"Right. It’s not just the town, you know. The inn isn’t as busy as it used to be. Hopefully, with you moving in…it’s a sign of something good."

Generic
quote-left.png

"Oh, hey there! Nice to see a familiar face."

quote-left.png

"Can I assist you with something?"

quote-left.png

"People like to dismiss things they can't see. What's the fun in that?"

quote-left.png

"Being alone isn't always bad. Personal space is rarely a thing when you grow up with someone sparkly like Suki."

quote-left.png

"Sure, energetic works too. Suki is energetic."

quote-left.png

"I sometimes wonder if running this inn is the right move for me. I don't know..."

Spring
quote-left.png

"The cherry blossoms look beautiful this time of year."

quote-left.png

"This time of year, you can find fresh wasabi by the river…"

quote-left.png

"Oh, you didn’t find any, you said? Animals might have eaten them already. But have you tried by the river in the forest?"

quote-left.png

"Ah… I kinda miss the snow already."

quote-left.png

"On my morning walk the other day, I saw people gathering bamboo shoots near the lake. You should check it out."

Summer
quote-left.png

"Summer, finally! Now I can read outside as much as I want."

quote-left.png

"Do you know what Summer is good for? Spending time outside, eating tons of minced jackfruit pies, going to the beach – all that good stuff."

quote-left.png

"I’ll read anywhere, but there’s something about reading outside in the Summer sun that’s more relaxing."

quote-left.png

"Easily the best thing about Summer is the abundance of jackfruit. I can make as many minced jackfruit pies as I want!"

quote-left.png

"It’s easier to do my…research in Summer. I can stay out longer to see if there’s anything strange on the island."

Fall
quote-left.png

"Why can’t Summer be longer? I haven’t finished my reading yet!"

quote-left.png

"It’s the last week of Fall, and do you know what that means? We have to prepare the inn for Winter. Ugh."

quote-left.png

"Fall is so pretty, isn’t it? Now, if only it were a bit warmer…"

quote-left.png

"Brrrr. It’s starting to get cold. I’ll have to do my reading inside soon."

quote-left.png

"I miss Summer already…"

Winter
quote-left.png

"When will this Winter be over?"

quote-left.png

"The only good thing about Winter is it’s when our birthday is. Everything else I can do without."

quote-left.png

"I asked my parents and Suki if we could just close the inn for Winter, but they shot me down. Many times. You think a broken air conditioner is a problem, wait until you deal with a guest complaining about the heater."

quote-left.png

"I’d close the inn all Winter if it were up to me. But we can’t. Something about being the only inn in town. Ugh."

quote-left.png

"The snow is pretty, I’ll admit. But does it have to be so cold?"
